Barcelona has been cleared as Osasuna loses appeal to Martinez’s choice | Football News

Osasuna believed that Barcelona was defeated by Lariga’s coach on March 27th, becoming an unqualified player.

Osasuna dismissed an appeal against Barcelona Fielding defender Inigo Martinez after he went to a Spanish match with injuries in Lariga last month.

Osasuna filed an appeal with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and said that Barca should not have technically defended Martinez after withdrawing from the Spanish team for an international league match due to swelling in his knees.

Martinez then finished 90 minutes with Barcelona’s 3–0 victory in a rescheduled game on March 27th, four days after the Spanish match. The original equipment on March 8th was postponed after the death of the Barcelona club doctor.

Osasuna’s appeal was based on the belief that Barca violated Article 5 of Annex I of the FIFA Regulations regarding player status and transfer.

This states that players who do not join or leave his national team for medical reasons may not play his club’s matches on the five calendar days from the end of the international era.

Osasuna said he was informed of the reasons behind the dismissal of the appeal and the decision.

“The RFEF implicitly expresses its desire to apply the above prohibitions by allowing players to leave training camp without imposition of any kind of restrictions,” the decision stated.

Osasuna said it did not mention that it would not apply the restrictions in either the RFEF’s official statement or in a communication with the club and would file an appeal with the Appeal Committee.

Both clubs had appealed that fixtures would be refused to be postponed.
