Kuwait authorities have arrested members of international cybercrime gangs of Chinese nationality, the Home Office said after a massive attack on communication towers and financial institutions across the country.

The cybercrime fight division was warned after several telecommunications companies and banks reported cyberattacks on the network and stole customer information and funds, the department said in an X post Thursday.

Officers arrested a Chinese national in the Fawaniya area of ​​Kuwait and seized several electronic devices in his possession. Police later found more tech tools at his residence.

The suspect confessed to be part of a larger network of fraudsters. Police also charged them with forgerying their identity using forged documents.

The ministry said it has emphasized it is taking action to tackle cybercrime, protecting national institutions from attacks, and improving the security of its networks to protect citizen data and financial assets. Ta.

In September, Kuwait’s health ministry was hit by a cyber attack that filmed the system offline at hospitals in several countries. The cyberattack also affected the Ministry of Health website and healthcare apps.
