The massive arrests occur as an army evacuation order to families at Nur Shams camp, giving them on a three-hour departure.
Israeli forces arrested dozens of Palestinians as part of expanding military operations across the occupied West Bank.
At least 50 people were arrested in the overnight attack, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Association (PPS) and the committee on detainees and former appellants’ issues.
According to a report by the WAFA, the military rounded up people for questioning at governors of Hebron, Talcarem, Qalqilya, Nablus, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Jericho and Tubas.
As part of the campaign, Israeli forces attacked Majed Abu Shalar School in Dura, near Hebron, and arrested two students, the Palestinian prisoners’ media office said Wednesday.
According to a Palestinian group, new arrests have brought the number of Palestinians detained by the Israeli Army on the West Bank since October 2023.
The figures do not include those arrested from the Gaza Strip. The number of Gaza Strip is estimated to be thousands.
The massive detention came amid Israel’s intensifying military attacks on the West Bank that began after the Gaza ceasefire was agreed a month ago.
At least 62 Palestinians were killed in the attack, and about 40,000 were evacuated from camps in Jenin, Talcarem and Nurshams in a month.
Philip Lazarini, the UN director for Palestinian refugees, said on Wednesday that the occupied West Bank is now a “battlefield” facing “amazing spillovers” of the Gaza War.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces issued new evacuation orders to residents of Nursham Camp, located east of the town of Tarkalem, prior to the planned demolition of 11 homes.
According to WAFA, Israeli forces have evacuated the homes to residents for just three hours. I saw the family leave the house and carry some of the belongings they could take.
On Sunday, Israeli forces sent tanks to the Jenin refugee camp, the first development since the crackdown on the Second Intifada in 2002, to announce their “extended stay” for next year to fight Palestinian armed groups.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry and the Expatriate Ministry said the move was a continuation of Israel’s “genocide, displacement and annexation.”
Meanwhile, Palestinian authorities have condemned Israeli forces for repeatedly obstructing West Bank ambulances and accused them of violating international humanitarian law.

The PA’s governing body signaled more problems to come ahead of the Holy Muslim month month, which is expected to begin on Saturday, and Israeli authorities further segregated East Jerusalem and its Palestinian environment. warned that it was preparing to “impose unprecedented oppressive policies.”

At least 924 Palestinians were killed and more than 7,000 were injured by Israeli forces on the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
In July 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s decades of occupation of Palestinian land illegal and called for evacuation of all existing settlements on the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
