The Celtic Collection achieved Green Dragon Environmental Standards at Level 4 across seven hotels and International Convention Centre Wales (ICC Wales).

Celtic Manor Resort, Cold La Court Hotel, Newbridge in Usk, Parkgate Hotel, Magal, Newport and Tech Hotels at Milford Waterfront are the first hotels to reach Level 4 certification.

The flagship Celtic Manor Resort, which won the Green Dragon at Level 3 in 2005, rose to Level 4 alongside ICC Wales in 2024, and the Celtic Collection worked hard in 2025 to raise other properties to the same high standard.

Only 19 other organizations in Wales are certified at Level 4 or above.

The UKAS Certified Certification is owned and certified by Groundwork Wales, which pointed to the Celtic Collection’s Environmental Training Program and Embedded Environmental Management Systems embedded in order to successfully win awards.

Fitzroy Hutchinson, Energy and Environment Manager at Celtic Collection, said: “We have invested heavily in our facilities to minimize energy and water consumption, reduce waste, and increase recycling levels.

All Celtic collectibles source 100% of their electricity from a LEGO-supported renewable supply, send zero waste to landfills, recycle food waste into renewable energy, and dispose of it in biodiesel.

In 2024, the collection opened its first large, all-electric hotel in Wales at The Hotel Newport. At Hotel Newport, the energy-efficient electric oven and induction hob reduce energy consumption by about 40% compared to traditional gas combustion devices.

ICC Wales includes a smart power building management system that offsets 465 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year and minimizes energy consumption thanks to its 230 acres of forest and its latest construction.
