Cambridge, the official conference and event office for Cambridge and its surrounding area, received the prestigious Silver Award for its outstanding commitment to advance its sustainability agenda at Cambridge University’s annual Green Impact Awards.

The Green Impact Awards, part of an award-winning UN programme led by SOS-UK (sustainability organising students), celebrate the environmental achievements of university faculties, universities and partner institutions. This year’s ceremony was held at Newnham University.

The Silver Award meets Cambridge’s impactful sustainability initiatives over the past year, including strong team engagement through weekly discussions, clear signs and visible reminders that encourage environmentally friendly choices.

Sarah Maycock, sustainability lead at Meet Cambridge, said: “We are excited to win the Silver Award this year. Sustainability is a core value for us, not just in our office practices, but also in our inspiration and collaboration with our venues and clients.”

Meeting with Cambridge will not only practice sustainability, but will also promote, support and impact both member venues and event organizers considering using Cambridge. An important example of this is the launch of the Meet Cambridge Sustainability Focus Group, a new networking forum of 50 member venues designed to share ideas, raise questions and track sustainability goals.

Megan Halliday, Newnum College, said it was one of the venues in Cambridge. “It is great to recognize the university’s efforts with this award, and we are proud of the work we have done as a university to increase our sustainability offering.
