WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration has suspended the University of Pennsylvania federal funding for participation in transgender athletes in the swimming program, the White House said Wednesday.

Ivy League Schools face An Educational Sector Survey It focuses on swimming programs. The investigation was released last month shortly after President Donald Trump signed the matter. Presidential Order The purpose is to prohibit trans athletes from competing in girls and women’s sports.

But federal funding was suspended with another review of discretionary federal funds going to college, the White House said. The suspended money came from the Department of Defense and the Department of Health and Human Services.

A Penn spokesperson said the school had not received any notices or details of the action.

“However, it is important to note that Penn always follows the NCAA and Ivy League policies regarding student participation in athletic teams,” spokesman Ron Ozio said. “We have been in the past and are fully compliant with regulations that apply not only to Penn, but also to all NCAA and Ivy League peer agencies.”

An investigation launched by the Office of Education for Civil Rights in Penn Leah Thomasswam on the school’s girls’ team and was the first openly trans athlete to win the Division I title in 2022.

The agency has also started reviewing San Jose State University Volleyball and the Massachusetts Regulation Movement Association.
