Beyond the show floor: 5 reasons venues require wellness space

If you’ve been in the industry for a while, you’ll see that events are far from a 9-on-5 job. In most cases, they require long periods of time, high energy, and constant adaptability. This creates an even stronger case for venues that provide wellness rooms and space.

A few days walk through the trade show floor, then a list goes on, from business lunches, consecutive meetings and interviews.

Depending on the plan, will things go exactly exactly? Will the event start on time and unfold without any problems? In most cases, the answer is no. That’s fine. But we all need a little extra support to ensure that once the crisis is averted, we can reorganize, charge and prepare for what comes next.

Here are five reasons why venues should start offering wellness rooms as part of their experiences at conferences and exhibitions.

1. Increased demand for health

Wellness has become a priority for the entire industry, especially post-pandemic. Event organizers are increasingly integrating wellness into programs (such as meditation breaks, yoga, quiet rooms) to support participants’ mental and physical wellbeing. Venues that offer dedicated wellness spaces are more likely to meet this demand.

2. Improved participants’ experience

Events can be overly irritating and tiring. The wellness room offers participants the opportunity to recharge, decompression and revive more engagements. This will improve the overall experience and make the event and venue more memorable.

3. The appeal of event planners

Providing a wellness space is a competitive differentiator. Planners are proactively looking for venues tailored to their clients’ values, such as sustainability and happiness. The wellness space shows that the venue is progressive and focused on attendees.

4. Inclusiveness and Accessibility

The wellness room can double as a quiet space for Neurodiverstar attendees, nursing rooms for parents, or prayer rooms for participants with religious needs. This inclusivity supports a wider range of participants and shows that the venue respects diverse needs.

5. Minimal investment, high impact

There is no need to build a full spa facility at the venue. Just a clean, quiet and comfortable space with soft lighting, seating, perhaps aromatherapy and soothing visuals. ROI can be important in terms of client satisfaction and repeat booking.
